What is Fitna? Fitna can be normalized as the current English word conspiracy. A conspirator does not start the conspiracy to solve any personal issue or achieve any higher purpose. But only to damage the society against which he conspires to. He only wants to break a rather peaceful or should I say calm environment in the overall society. Reasons behind them is only the hatred towards the people or the leadership. In Pakistan unfortunately every person hates every leader. So conspiracies are always hatched against them and it is nothing new. However, some conspirators do not want to let the poor 'awam' live in peace who is already disturbed by the rising oil and gas prices, house rents, shopping for their daughters wedding and God knows how many things. They want them to get disturbed in so many other things that they forget the actual problems.
Now a days a sectarian fitna is being started systematically by the fitna makers to reincarnate the sectarian monster of the 90s. Whether it be the case of growing fears of taliban in the nwfp, slogans and wall chalking in Karachi or statement of Dr. Israr, every thing is being cashed in to disturb the peace and harmony in which both great sects of Islam are living in. If that was not enough one so called 'alim' of our country made yet another attempt.
I was reading the article of Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem on an online link. Which was sent to me by another person to get my attention to I must say 'interesting' things written in it. The article was printed in Jang Newspaper on 4th of July, 2008. Ironically the article was about Hazrat Syeda Fatima Zahra a.s and I could count her name in the whole article on the finger tips. In the shield of using her great name Mr. Nadeem was trying to preach his views about the controversial issues. More than half of it was not even about Hazrat Fatima a.s
But the most alarming of all was the last line where respected sir made a claim that a funeral of Hazrat Syeda Fatima a.s was lead by Hazrat Abu Bakar. The people who know history and the controversial issues can understand what such a statement would invoke. Mr. Nadeem very conveniently cite no reference of the claim which is not very surprising. According to hadith narrated by Hazrat Ayesha r.a, in Sahih Bukhari, Book #59, Hadith #546 and Sahih Muslim Book #019, Hadith #4352, Hazrat Ali a.s, according to the will of Hazrat Fatima a.s buried her in the night with out informing Hazrat Abu Bakar. I will not go into the reason because that itself will create another fitna. But the point is why would you tell such a blunt lie when you yourself know it is not true and it will only infuriate a certain section of the people? Why start a fitna among the nation which is already lost and confused by the betrayal of their votes?
Only possible reason could be a systematic chain of events being carried out to create a disarray among the general public. This will divert their minds from the real issues and they will get stuck fighting with each other on something that happened 1400 years ago. Ulema of our nation should be more responsible not to be part of such a crime. The kind of situation Pakistan is in, it will not be a surprise if we loose every thing we build. Pakistan can not afford a single extra conspiracy. The water has reached the maximum level in the vessel (not in the dams thought) and more water will only break it. Pakistan has every thing at the stake at the moment. People who are burning the robbers will not hesitate to burn every thing if problems are not solved and perhaps each other as well if such conspiracies keep on working. One little spark can ignite the fire in the whole jungle.

Going through your blog, I came upon this 'fitna' article and would like to share my own views of the 'fitna' that I am witnessing first-hand in Pakistan.
As you may know, GEO television has become one of the most popular and widely-watched channels in Pakistan during the last few years after General Musharraf allowed a free media. You may also know that the same channel was instrumental in forming public opinion against the rule of President Musharraf.
Well, in the context of the article, I have seen how until 3 years ago, the channel was fervently taking part in the Muharram activities during the first 10 days and was doing a lot of good in promoting the message of Karbala. Now for the last 2 years, there has been a sudden U-turn and they are no longer showing as many programs or with such frequency during Ashura and have limited their special transmission to 2-3 days. Another sudden change is the attitude of a host Dr. Aamir Liaqat on the program Aalim Online,in the way he presents Shi-ism, although before he was very open and candid, now he stresses more on Sunni or Wahabi interpretations.
There is a visible change, but perhaps the most disturbing fitna is in a program called the Nadia Khan show, where a women scholar, apparently from the Wahabi sect is called every Friday and gives her opinions on various matters. The one that I found disturbing was where she said that Astrology, colors and Precious stones have absolutely no significance on our lives and were forbidden in Islam. I know for a fact that these are vital parts of the Shia faith and was totally amazed at how easily she categorized everything as 'Haraam'.
I hope that more people will look at the channel critically and thwart any attempts of creating 'Fitna' in the society.
